Here’s a goal for all Wilmingtonians: Eat more local seafood. Not only is it delicious, with a variety of textures, tastes and a sea-salty aroma that people travel miles to experience; eating local seafood also supports Southeastern North Carolina’s most prized, albeit diminishing, industry.
We had someone else’s paper delivered to us this morning in a rain sleeve. I’m glad we did. We’re about to resubscribe to the paper after a long period of thinking it’s just too much paper, especially with no curb-side recycling in our area (yet; we’re working on it).

After several emails, a couple of phone calls, and a weekend spent listening to their new self-titled demo, I had the chance to sit down with Adam Forsythe and Tiffany Reece of Wilmington’s own Barnraisers.
The Venus flytrap (Dionaea muscipula) occurs naturally only within a 100 mile radius of Wilmington, North Carolina. Which is wonderful boasting rights for our state, but that limited range of distribution has put the little meat eater in danger.
Wilmington has an identity crisis. It’s not sure if it’s a city or a town. A suburb or a beach. Or a strip mall. Contrary forces struggle mightily against one another.
