Cape Fear Commutes 2035 to Host Regional Transportation Open Houses

March 30, 2010
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Do you live, work, or travel in the Cape Fear region? If so, then Cape Fear
Commutes 2035 wants to hear what you think. Over the past two years we have
been identifying and analyzing the biggest traffic jams, missing
transportation links, and opportunities for transportation improvements in
the Wilmington area. Now is the time to see what we’ve been up to. Cape
Fear Commutes 2035 will be hosting a series of public open houses
throughout the region in March and April to present our draft
transportation plan for the tri-county region. This plan recommends over
$2.1 billion in local-, state- and federal-funded transportation projects
to be built over the next 25 years.

These open houses will run from 5:30-7:30pm. The drop-in format allows you
to arrive at anytime within those two hours. The dates and locations are:

1. Tuesday, March 30, 2010: New Hanover County Senior Center: Multipurpose
Room, 2222 South College Road, Wilmington, NC 28403 (accessible via WAVE
Transit routes 103 Central and 202 Independence)

2. Monday, April 5, 2010: Topsail Middle School, Cafeteria, 17445 US
Highway 17, Hampstead, NC 28443 (not accessible via WAVE Transit)

3. Thursday, April 8, 2010: Leland Town Hall, 102 Town Hall Drive, Leland,
NC 28451 (accessible via WAVE Transit route 204 Brunswick Connector)

We will also be visiting all of the elected boards throughout the month to
present the plan.

The Cape Fear Commutes 2035 Transportation Plan process included extensive
public participation. Over 3,200 residents of the Cape Fear region
completed our survey.
