Ironically, if they do have a stand in the MEGA, one of my friends had dubbed the MEGA-CHURCH the "Port City Java church." I wonder if they make you sign a profession of faith to buy a cup of coffee at the MEGA-CHURCH stand? Kids who attend social events there actually really are made to sign a profession of faith. Why does that conjure up images of Galileo kneeling before Pope Urban VIII? But I suppose the big take-home message may be that even Jesus can't save the coffee shop when the economy tanks. Or perhaps JC has another plan for that fine commercial space. You never can know about these mysteries. Really.

I was told they have a stand/store inside the MEGA-CHURCH on Cardinal (between Market and Eastwood). The Racine location wasn't open on Sundays, but the other one was. You're right, though: I'll miss that combination of open space and good coffee (and good sandwiches and pastries).

I thought I'd heard that the owners of the Connection -- maybe when they saw their UNCW customers waxing and waning too much to be reliable -- made a concerted effort to attract bible study and church meetings. Pure hearsay, but I do feel I saw a lot of gold gilt and red letter there.

They also hosted a few of the Wilmington Bloggers meetups that I attended.

Yes -- was needing a cuppa and pulled in to the empty lot. Saw the owners loading up a truck. I think their business is tied too closely to UNCW traffic, and once all the students leave for the summer . . .

Yeah, that place was nice. Sorry (and surpised) that particular combination of tech and big space and food and good-looking furniture didn't work out.

Did you find out the hard way?
