Wilmington Twestival – February 12th downtown
I’m not quite sure I know what it is, but it sounds fun! (Something to do with twitter?)
Grove Project reader Bill L. sends along this notice about Wilmington’s first Twestival, to be held downtown at Port City Pub on Grace, and featuring lots of musicians and other artists performing in a benefit for charity:water.
Update: Here’s our friend Bruce Brown on the Twestival and its object, charity:water:

Ian, thanks for the shout out. Twestival is an event taking place in over 180+ cities in support of charity: water. It began in the UK last year and was organized in less than two weeks – something only possible through social networking sites like Twitter/Facebook, etc.
It’s a great event to come out and meet some of the faces behind Wilmington’s avatars in support of an awesome cause. We will have some cool prizes and of course free food and beer. Please check out http://wilmington.twestival.com and get your ticket today!
Thanks,
William Lang

I went to the website and STILL don’t know what it’s all about, but I must admit that Mr. Lang’s promise of free food and beer caught my eye.
Are those who shamelessly avoid Twitter invited?

Ranald – They send you through a metal detector at the door, but in this case they are REQUIRED to find some small, metal SMS-enabled device in order to let you in. Get outa here you clue-train-less, disconnected bum!

Ian, thanks for the post! I think instead of trying to explain this through words, take a look at these quick videos:

Ian: Since one definition of disconnected is confused, that’s me. And you’re right. I’ve always been a bum.
BTW, do I have to take my shoes off when I go through the metal detector?
I’m still in the dark because I don’t have audio at work, but when I get home I’m all over this Twestival stuff! The suspense is killing me.

Added a video from Bruce Brown that clears the water.
