Homeless advocacy group starting in Wilmington

I received the following email today. It’s directed at those in the hospitality industry, but anyone can help/take part:

My name is Kip Damrow. I am the Director of Sales for the Hilton Garden Inn Mayfaire Town Center and the Courtyard by Marriott – University.

I need your help. This will be the easiest charity contribution you’ve ever made! With your help, I’d like to launch a local chapter of Hospitality for the Homeless. This is a not for profit organization based in Norfolk, VA. Through a client of mine, our Courtyard property became involved. I’d like my involvement to have a direct impact in Wilmington though. So, with the blessing of HFTH in Norfolk, they will help me launch a local chapter. All donations will help the homeless here.

I am asking you to consider making a one time annual contribution of a case of travel size shampoo or lotion or soap, etc… If every hotelier locally sets aside one case of what we are already giving away, we can make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. All donations will be repackaged into care kits and distributed locally to organizations such as the Salvation Army and Good Shepherd Center.

For those of you who have already expressed interest in becoming involved, thank you!

In January I hope to officially launch Hospitality for the Homeless here in the Port City. If you are interested in donating to the cause or would like additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly. Look for additional information and a sign-up sheet / opt-in coming in January!

Happy Holidays!

    Kip,

I work with the homeless and I applaud your efforts to launch Hospitality for the Homeless. Its a great idea.
Our church group helps to feed the homeless at various locations around the WIlmington area. I work as an RN at a substance abuse center, so I deal with homelessness frequently,
I save all of my personal care products whenever I travel to give out to clients as needed.
Please let me know how your efforts pan out here in WIlmington.
