Port City Parents’ Search for Clean Fuel

Fellow parents from the Parents’ Community Preschool and new-found friends of ours just sent us a link to the blog they are keeping while traveling through Honduras on a biodiesel fuel reconnaissance mission. I’m not entirely certain about the details of their work there, but at the heart of their project lies a very hearty, drought-resistant plant called jatropha. Apparently, this little tree can be combusted into fuel without being refined—a boon for the biodiesel community. And from what I can discern from my very brief conversation with Ania on the subject, her husband Josh and their friend Jock (founder of Full Belly Project) are trying to figure out how to work with the already established Full Belly Project community, which was started here in North Carolina, to grow and properly harvest this plant.

I can’t wait for them to get back so I can learn more about what they are up to and post it here. Until then we can read about their adventures in Honduras at this site:
