Send Titan Questions Here…
In today’s Star News there was some information about where to send questions and comments regarding the environmental impact of Titan Cement moving into our area:
The Army Corps of Engineers will accept questions and comments regarding the environmental impact statement process of the proposed cement plant in Castle Hayne. In conjunction, a public meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. June 12 at Laney High School, 2700 N. College Road.
For more information on how to send your question or comment to the Army Corps of Engineering, please see the article, “Cement Plant concerns presented” in today’s Star News. Also, please keep in mind that the questions and comments must be about issues related to the environmental evaluation process.
New Hanover county commissioners have already approved a $4.2 million incentive package to Titan, the state contributed a $300,000 grant and the Board of Transportation threw in $200,000. All Titan needs before it can move in and begin polluting our air, water and wetlands are a few permits and some just-adequate results from state and federal reviewed environmental studies.
It is up to us to make certain that our state and federal regulators do not skimp on any details of the environmental evaluation process. It is also up to us to rally together and show the state and federal regulators just how much we want to stop titan from moving into our area.

Date and place for this meeting have changed:
July 1st at Wilmington Christian Academy on College Road.

I work for this company Titan America, for three years and all they did to me was LIE, LIE, LIE, The Tampa plant always lose flyash and cement products wich blow all over the place. They only want to take your money. As far as getting hired by this company, make sure you record every conversation or they will burn you. They are very write up happy so drivers are always on edge. as far as west coast of Florida, we have horrible leaders.

I don’t understand how Titan America wishes to take a “positive” tole on the community with their whopping 160 jobs that they are going to be offer. The negative FACTS that are associated with cement kilns over power the “positives” by any means!!!
I’m disappointed that the community isn’t taking more of a stance. We are going to start undo able damage, leaving the future of the place we call home full of pollution, that will effect our children, their children, if we are still here, us!
The negative consequences speak for themselves. Let’s stop being selfish and consider other boosts to the economy, besides a cement plant, one of the nation’s largest industrial pollutant emitters.
