Dreams Reading Group Donations

Dear Pomegranate Friends,

I am writing to ask your help with the Dreams reading group. As many of you know, Dreams center for Arts Education is an after school arts program offered at the community Arts Center and at various housing communities around Wilmington. The goal of Dreams is to offer constructive arts based activities for at risk youth (for more info: www.dreamswilmington.org). The reading group is a wonderful way to encourage reading as a pastime and also allows discussion of issues affecting the teens’ daily lives

Pomegranate Books donated the first set of books for the children and their adult mentors. I am asking local book groups to each sponsor one month’s books for the Dreams kids. (Thanks to Hope’s Book Club for generously donating the second month’s book choice!) If each book group member would purchase one book (at the usual 15% discount) there would be enough for the Dreams group. Pomegranate currently has 17 registered book clubs, so participation would be less than once per year.

The next book is S.E. Hinton’s classic The Outsiders, a coming of age story that explores the themes of love and friendship.
