Port City Cynic

Blogger William Lang joins the Cape Fear placeblogging crowd at Port City Cynic, a new, good-looking weblog about the area, also featuring a map of things.

Off to a good start with this little tidbit from the first post, about the South College Sandwich & Deli

…DO NOT try to get ranch AFTER they bring out your food. Will they give it to you anyway? Of course. Will they charge you for it? Of course not. Does that make you a bad human being? Yes.

Moving on. George Elliott, WECT’s Chief Meteorologist, thinks he owns the place.

I just had to leave a comment on this new site about the first post, which is a funny but useful interpretation of the South College Sandwich & Deli, where meteorologist George Elliot acts imperious in strange blue tennies:

By the time I got to “normally pairs that with a pair of denim jeans and strange blue tennis shoes. Is it creepy to notice what he’s wearing?”, I was laughing too hard to hold the european light beer in.

Great to see you here, PCC. Love the esoteric good advice about the ranch and the acute N&O observation too — going to go give the deli a try.

I think George is an excellent weatherman, and certainly a local institution, but I have always wondered which planet he came from.

While I am not personally acquainted with him, I’m thinking that his “owning the place” actions would probably be more in the way of overly comfortable rather than imperious. I think it unlikely that he has an imperious molecule in his body.
