Improvements in Carolina Beach

Carolina Beach approved the construction of a 191-room Hilton Garden Inn at the north end of the boardwalk, to be completed by 2010. While the town council approved the permit on Tuesday night, demolition to prepare space for the project began the next day. The Seaview Motel and Kings Beachware building will be gone within two weeks.

In other welcome news in the beach town south of Wilmington, Michael’s Seafood announced it is now smoke-free, joining a growing list of restaurants moving into the 21st century.
