Randy’s Auto Service
Most helpful, skilled, non-venal, straight-talking auto service I’ve experienced. They’ve turned my car away a couple of times for specialized work they don’t handle, but they always help me know what the matter is (and don’t charge me for that(!)), suggest others who can do the work (whom I then take by association to be upstanding and the right people for the job).
I can’t remember who tipped us off to them a couple of years ago, but you sure do want to find a place to just call “the garage” when you get somewhere, and this family-run garage sure feels like it.

…By contrast, (to go on), the car dealerships we’ve had to deal with in the area for repair seem like professional oversellers, like shysters.
Sucks when you hear that the thing your car needs can only be handled at the dealership — the dealership knows that and screws you accordingly!
Ian, Anneliese and I have had the same great experience with Randy’s.
From what I hear he is a “Chevy” man but he does not discriminate when it comes to fixing cars!
Sorry, Scott, no comments from outside the U.S.

Was it you guys who turned us on to Randy’s? No…you know who it was? It was that Exxon oil change place on College just south of Monkey Junction. They’re also great.
There must be something about that neighborhood - I’ve never used Randy’s but have had very good luck with Kennedy’s Automotive just down the block. Keith got some fast-talking guy in there at the desk (who didn’t seem to be ripping me off, I just didn’t like him) and I bought another car that I wanted to take to someone who specialized in that kind, so I haven’t been in 18 months or so. But he knows what he’s doing and his prices were always very reasonable, and he never jerked me around.
