Drought Central
Not sure about where you live, but there are a smattering of folks in my neighborhood that are still watering their lawns, another instance of inconsiderate behavior that we’ve cited before. Now at least I can warn them about losing a few Benjamins. This is from WECT:
WILMINGTON — The warning period for violating Wilmington’s mandatory water restrictions is now up.
Monday is the first day violators could face a $500 citation.
The good news is that city officials say residents have been following the restrictions and conserving water.
Before the restrictions went into place, the city treatment plant was running at 70 percent capacity.
In the weeks since, water use has dropped to 54 percent, which is a savings of more than four million gallons.
[where: Wilmington, NC]
And remember, after you’ve eaten that 1st $500 citation, do your good deed and take your next 100 showers with a friend.
You’re too kind. “Inconsiderate?” Try stupid and selfish.
I don’t actually know what the water restrictions are. I don’t imagine that I am violating them, however, since I NEVER water my lawn or wash my car (I’m far too lazy!). Is there some place online that has a list of the restrictions?
Until then I’ll shower with a friend. :>
Here’s my inner-idiot playing devil’s advocate for the “hell” of it:
“Drought… drought… right… Don’t we live next to the the ocean?”
Apparently the drought regulations have been boosted up even more recently?
