This is a brilliant evocation of what a slacker's Christmas must feel like. Out of work, our slacker decides to become a Macy's elf during the holiday crunch. At first the job is simply humiliating, but once the thousands of visitors start pouring through Santa's workshop, he becomes battle weary and bitter. Taking consolation in the fact that some of the other elves were television extras on One Life to Live, he grins and bears it, occasionally taking out his frustrations on the children and parents alike.

Quiet Spirit, Skillful Hand: The Graphic Work of Clare Leighton
Born in Great Britain in 1898, Clare Leighton was one of the most important printmakers of the Twentieth century. Her preferred medium was wood engraving, a physically demanding form of printmaking that requires a tremendous level of precision and skill. How To Make Networking "Work" For Your Business
Are you tired of going to “networking events” and “after-hours mixers” and not getting the results that you need?    Are you not sure what is the most effective thing to say when you give your 30 second elevator speech?   Would you like to sharpen you networking skills and learn strategies on how to get massive results from networking events?   You are invited to attend the ActionCOACH “The Next Level” Seminar for December 2008 “How to Make Networking ‘Work’ for your Business.”   Coach Reggie will be joined by Toby Baccante the Area Director of Business Networking International as a guest facilitator.  Toby is a local expert on the subject of networking and business relationship building.  He and Coach Reggie will teach you the formula for networking success.   At this seminar you will learn…. What effective networking IS and what it IS NOT How to build an effective “Elevator Speech” How to effectively ask for referrals How to get people to quickly build trust & confidence in you How to make your network ‘work’ for you How to build a leveraged network to get all the business you will ever need  In this seminar you will not only learn some incredible information but you will also get the opportunity to build and develop your own “Networking Toolkit” for your business.  You will walk away “Armed and Ready” for you next networking event.  “The Next Level” Seminar “How to Make Networking ‘Work’ for your Business” will be held on Tuesday, December 2nd from 5:30 to 8:00 at the New Hanover County Library in Downtown Wilmington.  There is NO CHARGE for this seminar but YOU MUST REGISTER TO ATTEND!      What is “The Next Level” all about?  What is the catch?  Why is it free?  Is there going to be a big sales pitch of some sort?  “The Next Level” is a FREE “Business After Hours” style event that is 80% business education and 20% networking that will bring an in-depth look at key subject matters that help you become a more effective business owner.  Over the next few months we will run the gambit of topics in topics to include marketing, sales, team building, financials, goal setting, communication, customer service, time management, and whatever else I see that will be helpful to business owners.    We also encourage you to invite other business owners that you may know.  Here is why… It is a great opportunity for you to put a positive “deposit” into another business owner that you know by inviting them to a seminar that will help them grow their business. It will make for a better networking environment for everyone if more business owners are there.  Imagine all the contacts, potential customers, and strategic alliances that could be developed if everyone brought someone else with them. The more business owners that I can have come and increase their knowledge base, the closer I will come to fulfilling my vision of making  dramatic positive impact on business owners in the community. Previous “The Next Level” events have “SOLD OUT” in the past, so don’t wait to register if you are planning to attend.    I hope to see you there. Coach ReggieActionCOACH

Like The Wilmington news wire below, this post comes from an RSS feed. This feed is from eventful.com, and shows upcoming events in the Wilmington, NC area.

Because they are feeds, that post and this post are continually fresh; bookmark them (”Latest news”, “Upcoming events”), and you’ll see that their headline are being updated all the time

Interesting that local Ron Paul supporters might try to raise money with a “bikini car wash.” What’s next, mud wrestling?

More internally consistent for a libertarian (libertine?) than the “family values” candidate, at least.

I wondered about this one from the eventful list (body of event quoted in full):

that’s for some dem party leader to explain to me , i would nee d some assistance to do this lisa gallagher

Lisa needs to know so she’s started up this event (11/8)! :-)

The local Ron Paul Supporters have thrown around quite a few ideas. The ideas we always choose are only the ones that will not throw a bad image on the Ron Paul Campaign. We are not affiliated with them in any way, just one of the hundreds of grassroots groups around the Country that are spending their own time and money to help spread the message of freedom that Ron Paul represents.

    Google Ron Paul!
