Sustainable North Carolina has named 11 organizations as finalists for its sixth annual North Carolina Sustainability Awards. Winners, who have demonstrated leadership in environmental stewardship and social responsibility, will be named at the awards presentation and conference Monday at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill.

While the mayor race was a clean victory by Bill Saffo, the city council races are much more muddy.
In fact, there’s a chance for a four-way runoff, but we won’t know for sure until Oct. 16…

Man, murder after murder! I saw this story in the paper a couple of days ago–fight at a party elevates to broken bottle stabbing, guy dies.
