I love this store. Every time I leave Pomegranate I feel happy. Its a small independent bookstore that offers a unique community experience. The staff always remembers who I am if not by name then certainly by the last book I read. Because the shop is smaller than some of the big ugly guys they […]

If you picked up a copy of Time magazine recently you might have read the cover story recounting the failures of the Marine’s V-22 Osprey program. If ever there was cause for close scrutiny of how your Federal tax dollars are being spent, consider the following. This broken-winged bird doesn’t do what it […]

I keep seeing local “event” postings from these guys in Wilmington on eventful.com and other places:
Drinking Liberally > Wilmington, NC
Their tag line is “Drinking Liberally - Promoting democracy one pint at a time”, and they have “219 chapters in 44 states plus DC”. See main website here: drinkingliberally.org. Maybe we should go.

Man, murder after murder! I saw this story in the paper a couple of days ago–fight at a party elevates to broken bottle stabbing, guy dies. Kilarny Road (map ) is right down the street from our house. Always seemed a little dodgy…maybe it’s the proximity to the always-smelly, always-effluent sewage treatment center nearby.
Man charged […]

WWAY’s got a user forum where people respond to new items. Here neighbors and others are describing and decrying:

Killing was here: map, which one user calls the among the most dangerous areas in Wilmington. City council candidate Ronald Sparks also quoted as a neighborhood resident.
