V-22 Osprey’s Broken Wings
If you picked up a copy of Time magazine recently you might have read the cover story recounting the failures of the Marine’s V-22 Osprey program. If ever there was cause for close scrutiny of how your Federal tax dollars are being spent, consider the following. This broken-winged bird doesn’t do what it was supposed to do, is not properly tested, is prone to mechanical failure, is expensive to maintain, is more or less defenseless in combat and is generally unsafe for pilots and passengers. I’m afraid that one of these beasts will some day crash land into my office building as they frequently fly overhead. So why after spending 20 billion already is the American military poised to spend another 30 or so billion to build more things that even Dick Cheney thought was a bad idea? According to Time, some of these machines will soon be deployed to the mid-east for combat for the first time. Good Luck! I encourage each of you reading to get a copy of the Oct 8th Time and get as angry as I am. Also, follow this link for more comprehensive info. http://www.cdi.org/PDFs/Gaillard%20V%2022%20Final.pdf
And the SCHIP program is too expensive because we don’t want to have to cover “middle class” kids too.
Hm…seeing lots of searches for “Osprey” on the site suddenly. Wonder if the V-22 has again become bad news? -ed.
