No Farmer’s Market today
Riverfest is going on this weekend, so no Water Street Farmer’s Market. Too bad — Rachel and I are trying to buy a bigger, more real portion of our food from the local vendors there each week — eggs, greens, cheese — and kind of stockpile our needs for the market.
I think we.re going to the Children’s Museum instead, where Eli and I went with Don and Willa a couple of weekends ago.
Afternoon update: Lots of people downtown for Riverfest, which we were near but didn’t actually get into. Nice little green-building and green-energy pavilion on Front Street across the street from PCJ.
As edifying, improvised, (expensive) and fun as the Children’s Museum was, it is as nothing compared to the primo thrill of side-mounting an actual garbage truck, which may have been on stand-by for all the trash piling up downtown. Eli’s favorite noise is the hydraulic whoosh, his current heroes the garbage men who come by each Thursday morning with their giant, beeping, flashing green vehicle, waving if they see us. Note the unexplained Friday the 13th Jason mask and american flag in second photo.
